Many shady characters bailed up the district, including the infamous Ben
Hall gang and equally so Frank Gardiner. Remnants of their exploits are
strewn throughout the district. Historic Garroorigang is home to some of
Gardiner's personal chattels.
Bushrangers Dunn, Gilbert and Hall bailed up the Faithfull Brothers just
past the Pelican Sheep Station in 1865. Gilbert shot his horse in the
mayhem. A plaque commemorates the debacle at the site.
Goulburn has been described as the 'nursery of bushranging', but it was
here that the law was passed making it illegal to harbour bushrangers.
Good fun! Something for the whole family!
