Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre
Experience part of Goulburn's rich industrial history.
Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre operates a working Roundhouse housing heritage locomotives (steam and diesel), rolling stock and railway ephemera. The centre shows the transition of locomotive maintenance, steam to dieselisation.
A large workshop building is on display with all tours being guided by Goulburn Roundhouse staff. Most guides are railway men who were based at the Goulburn Roundhouse.
Visitors have the opportunity to:
- explore a working heritage locomotive roundhouse where they can learn or remember industrial working conditions 1918-1986;
- witness heritage locomotives and rolling stock being refurbished in this centre of excellence; and
- gain access to historic records, instruction books, manuals and drawings.
Current exhibition: 'Museum of Railwaymen'.
OPEN: Tuesday to Sunday 10am-4pm
Admission: Adults $8, Concession $5, Children $4
Large groups are welcome but please let the Roundhouse know your requirements so that we can make sure enough staff are available to make your visit enjoyable.
